Smith Rock Spring Thing Park Clean-Up
Cornerstone Grant Recipient

This year’s Spring Thing was the recipient of one of the first AAC Cornerstone Grants awarded to projects that promoted stewerdship and conservation at climbing areas around the country.  The $4,000 dollar grant was used to purchase lumber and rebar to install and rebuild stairs in different areas on the front of the park.  AAC volunteers helped in garbage pickup along the river, stair building and leveling on the trails up to the Dihedrals and laying gravel on the trail down to the bridge.

In it’s 20th year, the Spring Thing brought together close to 200 volunteers for the park’s work day.  Volunteers were able to celebrate another hard day of work with a slide show and raffle that evening.  Look out for more information about next year’s event.  We’ll be rallying more AAC members to come lend a hand.
