Burr Presentation and Crag Clean up Day on Earth Day.
Andrew Burr is coming in to do a fundraising slideshow for the Black Hills Climbers Coalition. (BHCC) on Sat. April 21st at the Crow Peak Brewery up in Spearfish. Donations are $10 for BHCC Members and $15 for Non-Members. Show starts at 7 and is open to all ages. We are planning on having a Pinfest type climbing day up in the canyon and then heading to the show in the evening. There should be a silent auction, we have T-shirts made to sell, and Crow Peak is donating a $1 from every beer so hopefully we get a great turnout, have a great time, and raise some money to support the local climbing organization in the Black Hills. We are trying to raise funds to host more events and to purchase hardware for the route repairs over the next couple seasons. We are hoping to purchase around $1700 worth of stainless steel hardware (pricey!) so any bit helps. The American Alpine Club will have a membership booth set up at Crow Creek.
Members Please stop by the booth and say hi and introduce yourself. Bring a friend and get them up to speed not the action in the AAC.
We are partnering up with the Black Hills Climbers Coalition (BHCC) and Access Fund to host an Adopt-A-Crag day at the Rock Maze near Nemo on Sunday after the slideshow. This is a great event and yet another opportunity to act as stewards of our climbing resources and collaborate with land mangers. The BHCC has been very active again this year working with land mangers to maintain access and be a part of the decision making process. The land mangers take notice of this and appreciate our involvement.
