The first EVER Women in Adventure Sports Film Festival
7:00–10:30 p.m.The Regent Theatre – Arlington, MA
From event producers CMPZ Productions:
The festival offers an audience of active women outdoor enthusiasts a balanced set of films that span climbing, mountain biking, trekking, surfing, snowboarding, etc. The approach is to focus on adventure, community, culture and environment and on films that project intimacy and passion for the sport, and insight into the women who are the focus of the film.
This event is the first festival to focus exclusively on women adventurers and adventures. CMPZ Productions is responding to an often-asked question at outdoor film festivals: “Why aren’t there more films about women?”
Support among women adventurers is strong, as captured by Felicity Aston, a polar adventurer:
“The festival sounds like a fantastic initiative. Women are out there doing some amazing things in the adventure world so it really frustrates me that we don’t see them being more prominent in the media. It is great that the festival will be drawing some focus on those incredible ladies out there!”
