The AAC is about climbers coming together and supporting one another, and for Salavat Rakhmetov, champion Russian climber, the community has never been more needed.

Last week in Turkey, Salavat was leading a pitch when a rock dislodged and came down directly on his 5-year old daughter, Zalia. She is currently unconscious and in the ICU of a Turkish hospital, where she has survived four surgeries (hand amputation, re-attachment of toe and repair of a severely broken arm and leg) but has one more to go: when the rock struck her, shattered skull fragments went into her brain. Doctors are waiting until her swelling goes down to safely operate to remove these fragments.

The Russian climbing organization has set up a site to accept donations for what looks to be upward of $123,000 in medical bills for Zalia. Please check it out and help if you can.
