NE Section Members Share Laughs And Climbing Tales At 14th Annual Dinner
The New England section hosted its fourteenth annual dinner at the ever elegant Henderson House on March 20th. Walt Hampton, a Connecticut member, exhibited his photography presentation “Where Awe Dwells: Journeys in the Great Ranges” during the cocktail hour. This year we welcomed two new members into our section, Luke Hampton and John Burroughs. Robert Hall introduced auctioneer Steve Scofield and D. Byers with an intro that bordered on a roast, which kept the gathering laughing. Our members’ good humor continued as we managed to raise additional funds. After an elegant respite the group gathered to listen to our guest speaker Glen Denny. He treated us to a brilliant presentation entitled “Yosemite in the Sixties.”
Notables in attendance, to name but a few, were past presidents Mark Richey and Jed Williamson, along with Bruce Franks and John Kascenska, both board members. New Hampshire hard men Steve Arsenault and Paul Boissioneault joined in the festivities along with John Reppy who traveled all the way from New York. Bill Atkinson, our former chair, was in attendance and I thank him once again for all his help in the past year as I transitioned into the role of chair.
Our next section gathering is our annual Summer BBQ which will be held on Saturday, June 26th. Stay tuned for details!
