AAC Conservation Ambassador Named

The ACC Southern Appalachian Section has announced that Patrick Weaver will serve as AAC Conservation Ambassador for the section. Patrick will be assisted by a Conservation Working Group comprised of representatives drawn from across the section. These are completely new volunteer positions within the club. Patrick and the CWG will work with the AAC Conservation Committee Chair Ellen Lapham, Conservation Committee Sections Liaison Fred Glover, and the Section Chair to define these new roles and the section’s conservation strategy, programs, and projects.

Patrick is the owner of the Appalachian Mountain Institute. AMI is a guide service and instructional institute dedicated to guiding and educating others who have a spirit for the mountains. AMI operates in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina near Asheville and Brevard. Patrick has over twenty years of climbing experience and holds multiple certifications from the American Mountain Guides Association. He has a master’s degree in Risk Management in Adventure Education with an emphasis on Judgment Development.

Serving on the Conservation Working Group are Aram Attarian (Raleigh), Ricky Green (Durham), Rick Gromlovits (Waxhaw), Keith Nangle (Wake Forest), and Joe Quinn (Boone).
